홍콩정부(Labor Department)는 2017.5.1일부터 시간당 최저임금을 HKD34.5로 한다고 발표하였다. 이를 월급으로 환산하면 최저 HKD14,100이 된다. 다만 학생인턴(Student Interns), 연수생(Work Experience Students) 등은 적용 제외되며, Employees with disabilities는 별도의 규정에 따른다.
STATUTORY MINIMUM WAGE
Statutory Minimum Wage (SMW) has come into force since 1 May 2011. With effect from 1 May 2017, the SMW rate is raised from $32.5 per hour to $34.5 per hour. Concurrently, the monetary cap on the requirement of employers keeping records of the total number of hours worked by employees is also revised from $13,300 per month to $14,100 per month.

Employees with disabilities enjoy the same protection but they also have the right to invoke productivity assessment to determine whether they should be remunerated at not lower than the SMW rate or at a rate commensurate with their productivity.
